"Flyaway" by Lucy Christopher

The book "Flyaway" by Lucy Christopher, is one of my favorite books so far this year. I haven't read many books this year, but with this book I just couldn't abandon it. Every time I thought something good was gonna happen for them in the book, another plot twist would happen. Usually, with things like this, I would get upset because I wouldn't want every single thing being ruined, but the plot twists just kept on making the book even better. This book is nothing like I read before, it had so many emotions and so many elements to it. Even though this book had a lot of things going on, I could still relate to it in so many ways. I think that's why I fell in love with it. Even in the beginning, the book just instantly had me hooked by a thread. As I continued to read, the thread became thicker along for my interest in it.

Moving on from that, I'm gonna start talking about the book and what it's about. In the beginning, everything was fine, they were going out in the cold winter weather, looking for the geese like they do every year. Then, one thing led to another, and all went down the drain. Isla and her father, were running down the side of the lake in hopes that the goose they saw was indeed, a whopper. Instead, they ended up in a hospital. From there on, Isla thought all hope was gone, then she met Harry. Harry is a patient in the cancer ward, he is her age (13), and he restored hope for her. As they talked, they became closer, a lot closer (if y'all know what I mean). Over time, feelings progressed, along with Isla's hope. Harry helped her with everything she had been going through, and he taught her to be strong. In all of this, there was one thing that was for sure keeping them together. A whopper. One whopper. Just sitting there, in the middle of the lake, right next to the hospital. But this whopper was unusual, no one could tell what it's deal was. She wouldn't fly, she wasn't afraid of humans, she wasn't normal. Instead of running away from Isla, she walked right up to her and looked her straight in the eye. From that point on, everything changed for her.
