Favorite Gift

Christmas is one of my favorite seasons. I just love everything about it, but because of my religion I can't celebrate Christmas with my family like most my friends. There's no Christmas tree, no gifts, no santa, no music, etc. Just because I don't celebrate it, though, I still love it. Last Christmas, my best friend got me a gift that I love very much to this day. It was a stuffed animal, who was pink and purple. I named her Martha (inside joke). That was my favorite gift I've ever received. I think the fact that it was my best friend, someone I still love very much, that gave it to me makes it so much more special.

My Favorite Quote

My favorite quote is, "Be strong because things will get better. It may be stormy right now, but it never rains forever." The reason I like it so much is because every day people go through things, and sometimes they might not want to keep trying anymore, but this quote helps people realize that things won't always be like this, and that things will get better. I can connect back to this, because I have gone through this multiple times, (just as everyone else) and I'm not gonna lie, I have felt like this  before. We're all human, and it isn't unnatural for someone to feel this way a couple times in their life. Although I never heard this quote specifically up until a couple days ago, I have said something similar to remind myself not to give up.

My Name

My name is pretty unique. Although, it has been mispronounced from time to time. The day I was born, my parents decided to name me "Sumar." The reason my name is unique is not because of the way it is pronounced, but the way it is spelled. I'm pretty sure you guys all think it's pronounced like "su-mar." The funny thing is, my name is supposed to be pronounced "summer" like the season, and also spelled like the season. I guess when I was born, there was a miscommunication and my name was spelled incorrectly on my birth certificate. Although it causes a lot of mix-ups, it's a funny story to tell. It's also from an Arabic origin (or Arabic root) which is pretty cool.

What am I Grateful For?

It's almost Thanksgiving, and there are so many thing this year that I am grateful for. One of the things I am most grateful for are my friends, this year has been really tough already and without my friends I don't know how I would be able to pull through. My friends have been there for me through everything, well the ones who actually were my friends. My best friend, Emily, is someone who has helped me through honestly everything since the day I met her. I can not be more grateful to have her,  and I wouldn't trade her for anything in the world. She's not only like my best friend, she's also like my sister. I can't be more grateful for the friends I have right now, and I'm glad I have them.

Election Reflection

My overall thoughts about the election in general is that it was very intense and very unpredictable. I was up all night watching the election, I was tired but I wanted to stay up because the election was so intense. Both beliefs and thoughts were very different between the two candidates, and throughout the entire run, the candidates were at each other's throats most of the time. When running for a president, some things might be said about the other candidate. That's just the way it is. All in all, the election was very intense and intriguing, although I have to say I didn't like the way it ended.  My thoughts about the election is I didn't like the way it ended. It really had me thinking about the society, and how many people actually were rooting for someone to be our leader who has said what he said and done what he's done. I'm not trying to be bias, but come on. Really? Someone like Donald Trump is not fit to be our president, he is the bias one here. W...

"Flyaway" by Lucy Christopher

Image
The book "Flyaway" by Lucy Christopher, is one of my favorite books so far this year. I haven't read many books this year, but with this book I just couldn't abandon it. Every time I thought something good was gonna happen for them in the book, another plot twist would happen. Usually, with things like this, I would get upset because I wouldn't want every single thing being ruined, but the plot twists just kept on making the book even better. This book is nothing like I read before, it had so many emotions and so many elements to it. Even though this book had a lot of things going on, I could still relate to it in so many ways. I think that's why I fell in love with it. Even in the beginning, the book just instantly had me hooked by a thread. As I continued to read, the thread became thicker along for my interest in it.      Moving on from that, I'm gonna start talking about the book and what it's about. In the beginning, everything was fine, th...

Blogs About Blogs

The blogging tip I chose was "be factual." Sometimes when I am writing, I have the temptation to extend something or make up a story to make the blog better for the audience. Blogging is supposed to be about actual things, so that you could have an outlet for your writing. You should be telling things that really happened, tell people experiences you've had, not make up stories because you think  your stories will be more entertaining or will attract more people to come and read your writing. All in all, always     One other blogging tip I chose was to use images. When you include images, it makes your blogs more fun. From experience, adding images really does help either make your blog more fun or help your audience understand the blog more. One important thing to always remember when adding images, always make sure the image relates back to the topic of which you are speaking of. Overall, adding pictures does benefit to your blogs but only if you'r...
