Earth Day

Image
I'm sure everyone has heard of Earth Day, but if you haven't this is what it is. You would get together with a group, or this could also be down solo, but basically all you would do is help out the Earth by cleaning it up, or planting new plants. April 22, 2017, was the day when Earth Day was held this year. It was a school thing, so it was held at our school, and anyone who wanted to come could come and help clean up around parks, streets, houses, alleys, etc. The weeks before Earth Day all the teachers suggested that we all go, to help out the Earth. There was also an incentive for every 8th grader that went. The incentive was that we would all get 15 points, which would help us get closer to our goal and get us closer to being able to attend all our activities at the end of the year.     Back to talking about Earth Day, it was a pretty great day. Not only did it feel great to help out the Earth, but you got to do it with the people you have fun with. T...

Sears Tower, Not Willis Tower

Image
This spring break was quite eventful for me, which is something new. Usually, I don't really do anything over breaks except hang out with my sister or something, but this break was different. I suggested that we should go downtown, and my sister is the one who suggested that we go to the Sears Tower. We were all talking about it, to see if we should actually do it. In the end, we decided to, and we were on our way. We got there, and we were waiting in line. Surprisingly, the first line moved quickly. As we were going further up, I was getting really anxious but also excited at the same time. When we brought the tickets, we thought that was going to be it, and that we could finally go. Turns out, we were wrong. There was still another 45 minute wait! So, we decided to just sit down and wait. The line finally moved, and we were getting closer. When we finally got to the elevator, they out like 20 people in one small elevator. I was so uncomfortable. Since we were going up really high...

Life Is Beautiful

Image
The movie, Life Is Beautiful , is touching. In the movie, it gives us the experience of a Jewish man and his familys life during the Holocaust. There were many similarities between the movie and actual events in the Holocaust. The idea of how the Jews got to the gas chambers were similar, the trains. Also, what happened to them at the camps were similar. How they were treated was very bad which was, sadly, the harsh reality of how they were treated during that time. All in all, there were many similarities between the movie and the events/literature that I read about were similar. In the movie, the main character tried to make the best out of bad situations. He would do funny things to make his son laugh, so he wouldn't be scared. The father was the only one trying to make the situation better, and not made it out to be the horrible thing that it was. If you were to compare the fathers tone to anyone else's, you would see that there is such a different, . Everyone else was s...

Love, Lucas

"Love, Lucas" written by Chantele Sedgwick is one of the greatest books I have read. It was a romantic comedy, but there was definitely some sadness in there. At least there was for me, I cried in the beginning and the end. I inferred I would end up crying, because when I read the back, it was pretty obvious. This book is one of those books, that from the beginning (if you like these type of books), that it'll just be a great one. Not only is it a great book, but it's one of those books that has you wanting more. Whenever I picked up the book, I didn't want to put it down. Then again, I also didn't want to finish it. I woul recommend this book to anyone who like comedy, romance, sadness, trauma, and also a little bit of a thriller. Down below is a quick summary, giving you a little bit of the feel of the book. If you're interested, please check it out! This book is about a girl named Oakley Nelson. In the beginning, it tells us how her brother is in the ...

Fake It 'Till You Become It

Some things I'm good at, is being able to get caught up with my school work when I need too. I feel like that's one of the aspects that I'm most proud of. Usually, if I'm busy or can't get my work done I hold it off. When I hold things off, I tend to procrastinate. Then when I realize I'm behind, I work until I'm caught up. It took a while to develop that, but now that I have that skill I am most proud of it. Something that I want to try to get better at is volleyball. Volleyball is something that I've been through to get better at, and as I go along, I stay determined and I get better.

Regrets

Image
What is regret? Where do regrets come from? Why do we have regrets?      Throughout my life, I have had a lot of regrets. Some were small, some were big, but they are all still regrets. One of my biggest regrets is not being as close with my grandpa. Even though I was young when it happened, I still could have done something different, something more that what I did. It happened when I was 8, five years ago. It all happened so quickly, I didn't know how to react. Everyone was there to support me, and they all suggested to talk to someone, but I didn't know how to cope with it. He was all the way across the world, living in my home country. So, I couldn't just say my goodbyes. I didn't get to say goodbye, and although I couldn't have in person i could have tried. That is one of my biggest regrets. Every night, I think about him and how badly I miss him. Knowing I'll never be able to talk to him again, to hear his voice again, to see his smile again, and I d...
